![]() by NICOLE BEARD Staff writer Arriving at a college away from everyone and everything that you knew can be pretty daunting to anyone. Questions run through your mind, and the biggest one is, "Who can I turn to?" Turn to our Dean of Students, of course! Dean Michael Herdlick knows what Tiffin University is all about. “My children are growing up here, my wife works here, this is our home," he said. Dean Herdlick has dealt with students’ financial concerns, problems at home, and issues in class. He has also had students who are questioning their major asking, “What am I doing with my life?” Never has he turned his back on one of those students in need. He adamantly declares that, “We’ll figure it out together.” The Dean proclaimed himself as the "Chief Advocate” for students. He is there when students have no other place to go, and he encourages students to talk to anyone on his staff if they have a problem.
"That’s what our staff is for. We’re here to help," he said. With a smile on his face, Dean Herdlick said, “This is best job in the world. Through all the stuff that goes on, I'm ground by the fact I have you guys. I get a lot of strength and energy from you guys.” His recommendations are to get into a routine, understand lay of land, begin working with your RAs, get involved in student government, and talk to his staff in student affairs. “I don't have all the answers," he said. Though this may be true, he will do everything in his power to solve any problem you come to him with. Have a concern or just want to stop in to introduce yourself? Dean Herdlick’s office is located at the back of the Student Affairs, to the right.
