by BRANDON UTLEY co-editor In the past few years, Sony Pictures Entertainment has partnered with Marvel Studios and brought the marvelous world of The Amazing Spider-Man into the already developed Marvel Cinematic Universe. This collaboration marked the first time that the web-slinging hero would be portrayed on the big screen along the likes of Marvel greats such as Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America. This led to a serious issue within Sony Pictures. With the rights to Peter Parker’s Spider-Man in Marvel’s hands, where were they going to go with their planned future for the character? Out of this confusion came the idea for an animated film focused on the new iteration of the superhero, Miles Morales. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse marks the first time that Miles Morales has been portrayed on the big screen and it has been well worth the wait. According to the official Marvel website, Morales is from the alternate reality Earth-1610. He was bitten by a genetically enhanced spider and was forced to take up the mantle of Spider-Man. You’ll have to see the film to find out the rest here. For those of you not too familiar with the comic book verbiage, let me explain. Many comic book franchises use the idea of alternate earths or realities to allow their characters to expand into new story lines. This idea comes into full play during this high-intensity animated film. To avoid spoilers I will leave the details out. This film applies a beautifully animated four-color process printing to its characters. The film truly has some of the best animated visuals I have ever seen. If this movie does not win an immense amount awards for the visual graphics, I will be floored. Not only is the animation absolutely beautiful, the soundtrack is one of the best I have heard in a long time. The soundtrack features hits by artists such as Post Malone, Juice WRLD, Lil Wayne, and Vince Staples. The hit "Sunflower" by Post Malone & Swae Lee had recently peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I highly recommend not only watching this amazing movie that I would personally compare to the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool, but immerse yourself in the beautiful music featured in the film. Take a chance to watch the trailer for the film below.
